For several months, the k-5th grade students at The Cottonwood School of Civics and Science have been hard at work creating original Oregon-influenced art pieces. The students have produced a diverse range of impressive works, from ink and watercolor portraits of Portland bridges to Portland pop art pieces, and have even transformed recycled water bottles into native Oregonian forest animals. You can see the incredible artwork that these talented local amateur artists have made at the 2nd Annual Art Show + Fundraiser hosted by Sean Z Becker Real Estate on Friday May 4th from 2 pm to 6 pm.
Melissa Allen—the art teacher at The Cottonwood School of Civics and Science—has recently been teaching the Cottonwood students about Pacific Northwest artists, such as Emily Carr and Ted Harrison, to educate these youngsters about this region’s rich artistic history and to provide them with sources of inspiration for their works. Allen says that: “The art show is a great way for these young artists to take pride in their work and share what they have been doing with the community.”
If attendees of the art show feel so inclined, they can make donations to benefit the art program at The Cottonwood School of Civics and Science. Guests of this pop-up gallery can also enjoy light refreshments and snacks provided by Sean Z Becker Real Estate.
Don’t miss out on this First Friday art show that will be a wonderful opportunity to engage with your fellow community members while supporting local South Waterfront students!
