Community Action Committee

The Community Action Committee helps steer neighborhood events and programs in the South Waterfront. With strong leadership from the past, their efforts have been nothing short of remarkable by creating community one event at a time. Some of their successes include the annual 4th of July barbecue and raffle, neighborhood clean-ups, and support organizing Riverfest. Additional ideas are always encouraged, so if you have an idea, please contact the Committee. Kay Dannen has been a great champion of this Committee.

Residents and interested parties are encouraged to join the committee. Contact Program Manager of Community Relations Heather Bayles at Heather@southwaterfront.com for more information.

Exercise & Nutrition: The Best Medicine

April 19, 2012

Marquam Hill Lecture Series
Our parents always told us to eat well, but did they know about the irrefutable body of scientific evidence that links good health and longevity with being physically active and eating a healthy diet? Kerry Kuehl, MD, DrPH, is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Co-Director of the Human Performance Laboratory in the Division of Health Promotion & Sports Medicine at OHSU. Dr. Kuehl says most of what we die from is preventable by the lifestyle choices we make every day. He’ll tell us about his approach to utilize the principles of exercise testing and training of elite athletes to achieve peak performance and to apply these same techniques to unhealthy individuals to attain the highest quality of life.  Sounds like a good way to get ready for summer! RSVP and get more information online.

Thursday, April 19, 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm
OHSU Auditorium, Marquam Hill Campus, Old Library Building
