South Waterfront’s newest fresh food source was a big hit on opening day, last Thursday. The strawberries were our personal favorite! Other produce on hand included asparagus and snap peas. The produce variety will grow and expand as the summer season progresses.
Featuring produce from Damascus, Oregon’s Thompson Farms, the farm stand is located in the block just south of OHSU Center for Health & Healing, at SW Bond Avenue and SW Curry Street. All of Thompson Farms’ delicious produce is grown without synthetic pesticides or herbicides. The stand is open weekly on Thursdays, June 9 – September 29, 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
Expected produce for this week includes: strawberries, lettuces, asparagus, Walla Walla onions, bunching onions, and spinach. Call the produce update line at 503-658-4640 to find out what’s on tap each week (please note that produce is subject to change on day of farm stand).

The evening will start off with a charcuterie lesson – handmade skinless sausages. You will choose from an array of ground meats and savory fillings and take your sausage home to snack on later. Pork tenderloin stuffed with fresh fruits and a tomato jam is next on the menu, eaten with candied roast carrots and a simple salad. You will make and take home a lovely grain mustard and the night will finish off with campfire s’mores prepared indoors! Red wine will be served throughout the class. Bring a group!
