South Waterfront 20/20 Art, Culture & Science Meeting

June 1, 2009

Guest David Cannon discusses the ends and outs of Montessori schooling, a child-centered alternative educational method, and reports on the initiative to bring a Montessori classroom to the South Waterfront.

An activist, consultant and educator, Cannon has been working in the Montessori method of education for over 20 years. Among other accomplishments, he played a key role in obtaining approval of the first Montessori-based charter school in the Portland area, has served as head of several schools and participated on numerous boards, including the Board of Directors for Oregon Montessori Association.

Grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and students of our world today will learn something relevant about human development, education and life. All SWF residents are welcome and guaranteed not to leave the meeting with any to-dos (unless you desire them).

Location: Atwater Amenity Room (0841 SW Gaines St) | 6:30 – 8 PM | Open to SWF Residents and their guests
