David Biespiel is the author of four collections of poetry, most recently The Book of Men and Women.
He is the founding director of the Attic Writers Workshop in Portland, editor of Poetry Northwest,
contributor to The New York Times, Poetry, and Slate, and writes regularly on politics and public
policy for Politico.com. His monthly column on poetry for The Oregonian was started in 2003,
making it the longest-running newspaper column on poetry in the country.
